Day 32 of 75 Days in Faith
Your Heart Is the Center of Your Life
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
— Proverbs 4:23
On day 32 of 75 days in Faith, we will focus on our hearts; and educate ourselves on what the Bible says about the heart so we can apply it to our lives.
But first let’s look at a few interesting facts about the human heart…
Our human heart beats about 100,000 times a day, pumping approximately 2,000 gallons of blood through the body.
An interesting, yet mind blowing fact is that the heart never gets a chance to rest; not even while we are sleep. Even then it’s still beating, but at a slower pace helping us maintain our vital functions.
Have you ever heard someone say, they had their heart broken?
Another interesting fact, is that our hearts are very sensitive to our emotions, it will respond to our emotions by changing its rate, and rhythm. Stress, hurt, fear joy, and other emotions can all influence how fast, or slow the heart beats.
So we must always remember, a huge part of our emotional well being, and overall physical health is tied to how well we govern our emotions!

Scripture teaches us that everything we do flows from our heart. It’s the source of our actions, attitudes, and decisions. Therefore, the condition of our heart is crucial in our relationship with God.
(Are You Right with God?)
Before approaching God, our hearts must be in alignment with Him. It’s easy to appear righteous outwardly, and speak the right words, but our hearts can tell a different story. Jesus warned that some people honor Him with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him in (Matthew 15:8).
(Sin Dulls the Conscience)
When sin takes root in our hearts, it numbs our conscience, we become less sensitive to God’s voice, and our hearts begin to harden. Though we may continue to live, our sensitivity to His presence is lost.
Hebrews 3:13 warns us to be cautious not to let sin harden our hearts, as it makes us numb to God’s conviction, and dulls the impact of His Word.

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Pride is one of the most dangerous conditions of the heart because it blocks us from receiving God’s grace.
Proverbs 16:5 says, “The Lord detests all the proud of heart.”
So if we want to experience God’s blessing, we must remain humble, be willing to repent, and be open to His transforming power!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I declare today that my heart is open, and receptive to Your transforming power. I will not allow sin or pride to harden my heart, but I choose to walk in humility and truth.
You are creating in me a clean heart, and You are renewing a steadfast spirit within me.
I align my heart, and mind with Yours, and I commit to living in a way that reflects Your love, and honors You.
My actions will flow from a heart that seeks to please You.
