Day 19 of 75 Days in Faith
The Fourth Man in the Fire
Scripture: “When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” — Isaiah 43:2
On day 19 of 75 days in Faith, we will discuss the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
A story of courage, divine deliverance, and (Faith). When these three young men refused to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s idol, they were thrown into a blazing furnace.
But as they stood in that fire, they were not alone. There was a fourth man with them, walking beside them, and He was there to protect, and deliver them. This “Fourth Man” is none other than the presence of God, and His presence in the fire changes everything.
1. Use your Faith in the fire
The fire that burned the ropes off of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego was not meant to destroy them. It was meant to free them from what had bound them. On this Faith journey we too will have to make a stand and refuse to bow down to distractions and other things that come to take us away from our God given purpose!
Remember, God will sometimes use life’s trials to burn away our fears, insecurities, pride, and anything else that holds us back from fully trusting Him.
What “ropes” in your life are holding you back?
Fear, unbelief, unforgiveness, pride…etc?
Ask God to use your current challenges to free you from these things.
2. Tough Situations Make You Tougher
God doesn’t always deliver us from the fire, but He will always walk with us through it.
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced the furnace, they weren’t alone. The fourth man, the presence of God, was with them, protecting them and strengthening them.
It was in the fire that their faith grew, their resilience deepened, and their dependence on God became undeniable. It is through difficult circumstances that we truly discover the depth of God’s presence and the strength He’s built into us.
Think back to a tough season in your life. How did you experience God’s presence in that time? How did it strengthen you?
3. The Presence of the Fourth Man
The most remarkable part of this story is that God was with them in the fire. The fire didn’t just reveal the strength of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, it revealed the faithful, unshakable presence of God.
No matter what you face today, know that you are not alone. God is with you in the trial, refining you and preparing you for what lies ahead. The fire is not meant to destroy you; it’s meant to purify and strengthen you, and God is right there with you every step of the way.

Is there an area in your life where you’re currently facing a trial or challenge? Trust that God is with you in the fire, and He’s using this moment to shape you for something greater.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being with me in the fire. I trust that You are using this trial to burn away what binds me and to refine me for Your purposes.
Help me to see Your presence in the midst of difficulty and to trust that You are making me stronger through every challenge.
Thank You for being my Fourth Man in the fire.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

As you reflect on today’s study, remember that the trials you face are not without purpose. They are shaping you, refining you, and strengthening you for the journey ahead. Trust in God’s presence, knowing that He will never leave you or forsake you—especially in the fire. Keep walking through it, for on the other side lies a stronger faith, a deeper relationship with God, and a greater purpose.
