Day 26 of 75 Days in Faith
I am becoming more Patient!!!
“Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” – James 1:19
On day 26 of 75 days in Faith we will discuss one of the most powerful fruits of the Spirit “Patience”!!
Let’s be honest, patience can be one of the hardest fruits of the Spirit to apply, But James reminds us of the importance of being “swift to hear” and “slow to speak.”
Patience begins with listening, and truly hearing others before reacting. The more we practice this, the more we control our responses, allowing us to be calm even in stressful situations.
In stressful situations, sometimes the most powerful thing we can say is simply nothing at all; and by doing so, we strike a blow to our flesh, by resisting the desire to say something.
(Wisdom to sit still)
Be still, and know that I am God is a scripture that reminds us that our cares, and concerns are His priority!
Sometimes, the best way to demonstrate patience is to do nothing at all. God calls us to “be still” and trust that He is working on our behalf.
In moments of struggle or challenge, we need to remind ourselves that God is fighting for us. Showing patience isn’t us being weak; but rather a confident rest in the knowledge that God is in control, and His timing is always perfect.
Be still, and know that I am God. – Psalms 46:10
(Patience equals more peace)
Patience puts us in positions us to become peacemakers, not just with others, but also within ourselves.
The more patient we are, the more we allow God’s peace to flow through us, surpassing all understanding.
Patience allows us to trust God with our worries, and pray through our concerns, knowing that He will bring peace to our hearts, and mind.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” – Matthew 5:9
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”- Philippians 4:6
(Patience is a muscle!)
Just as muscles grow stronger with resistance, our patience grows as we face challenges. The trials we face are not meant to break us, but to build us.
God uses these moments to shape us into His image, helping us to mature spiritually, and live with more peace, and less stress.
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” – James 1:3-4
(The power of patience)
Jesus, in His ultimate act of love, showed us the true power of silence and restraint. Though He had every right to defend Himself, He chose to remain silent.
This reveals a deep well of patience, waiting on God’s perfect timing. Like Jesus, we can choose to hold our tongues in moments of pressure, trusting that God will fight our battles.
“He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.” – Isaiah 53:7
(Declaration Prayer)
I decree, and declare that I’m more patient than I’ve ever been in my life.
I listen before reacting, and hold my tongue when necessary, trusting in God’s timing.
I choose to be still, and let God fight my battles; understanding that if He be for me no one can be against me.
I will let His peace flow through me, knowing that in patience, my faith is being made perfect.
I will embrace every opportunity to grow stronger in patience, while developing a life of peace by letting patience have her perfect work.
All this I confess in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
