Thieves don’t break in empty houses…
The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; but I have come that you may have life,and have it more abundantly. – John 10:10
On day 6 of 75 days in Faith, we will take a deeper look at who (the thief) actually is, and how we can protect ourselves against him.
When a thief is looking for a home to break into, they will often case a neighborhood and look for a home of value.
Once the thieves find the right home, they begin to look for (access points); and signs of vulnerability such as no security cameras, newspapers piled up in the driveway, lack of lighting etc…
On this Faith journey we must remember to properly secure our access points; and areas of vulnerability because that’s where the devil tries to access our home aka our mind, and spirit. – 1 Corinthians 3:16
One of the biggest things that detours thieves is a simple security system sign in the from yard; having that means that there’s a good chance the thief will leave your house alone altogether.
In his mind the risk isn’t worth the reward…
Choosing to commit to 75 days in Faith, and the daily guidelines of this journey was a bold move on your behalf!!!
The devil is taking you way more serious than he was before, as he should!!!
He sees that you’re arming yourself, and being more consistent with prayer, and reading the word of God.
And that sends a direct message to him,
as he fully understands the (power of Gods word), and the fact that more prayer equals more power!!!
So, how do we prevent satan from breaking in our house?
– Study the word of God – Apply the word of God to your circumstances (speak the word over yourself) – Pray for God to place a hedge of protection around you, and your family
Hebrews 4:12 says, that the word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword… so we must arm ourselves with it… study it more in depth… and know that it’s more than powerful enough for us to defend ourselves!!!
Jesus gave us a perfect example of using the word of God to withstand an attack from the devil…
Right before His earthly ministry began He was in the wilderness; and He fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.
That’s a long time!!!
I can’t imagine how tired, frustrated, and vulnerable Jesus must have been; and on top of that He was on His 40th day with no food when the devil tempted Him…
The devil, understanding the magnitude of Jesus’ fast, and the purpose of it; took this opportunity to tempt Him by offering Him all the Kingdoms of the world, riches, and food among other things…
But after being offered all this, Jesus, who was seemingly vulnerable told the devil…
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. – Matthew 4:4
Jesus, fully understanding the power of Gods Word did not debate, or reason with the devil; He stood on business, applied the Word of God to His circumstances, and let the Word work out His situation.
In that moment the word of God, which is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, defeated the devil, and Jesus began His earthly ministry.
1 Key takeaway to remember…
Being in alignment with God, and His will for our lives doesn’t exempt us from being attacked; but being in alignment with Him does give us protection when we are attacked.
The enemies weapons will form from time to time, but they (will not prosper). – Isaiah 54:17
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your Word, which is alive, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Today, as we reflect on the thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, we recognize the many ways the enemy tries to break into our minds and spirits.
We thank You for Your Holy Spirit, and for the armor You provide, so that we can stand firm against the attacks of the enemy.
Lord, we know that Your name is a strong tower; and when we run to You, we find safety!
On this 6th day of 75 days in Faith, help us to be more vigilant in the areas where the enemy seeks to gain access. Strengthen our minds, guard our hearts and spirits with Your truth.
We recognize the power of prayer and the authority of Your Word, so we will continually use it on this journey and beyond.
All this we ask and pray In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
