What Is the Holy Spirit?
As we continue our 75-day journey of faith, we have felt the Holy Spirit move in our lives, both knowingly and unknowingly.
From the daily decisions we make to the unctions we experience in conversations, and even while we sleep, the Holy Spirit is at work in us.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God.
Our ability to hear and recognize God’s voice is deeply connected to our engagement with His Word. Remember, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Therefore, we must ask the Holy Spirit to teach us, guide us, and help us understand the truth of God’s Word.
Consistent reading of the Word gives us a clearer understanding of our lives and the direction in which God is leading us.
Let’s take a deeper look at the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives:
1. The Holy Spirit confirms our relationship with God. “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” — Romans 8:16 2. The Holy Spirit reveals truth. “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” — John 16:13 3. The Holy Spirit helps us overcome. “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” — Galatians 5:16 4. The Holy Spirit gives us boldness to share the good news of Christ. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 5. The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds. “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” — John 14:26 6. The Holy Spirit makes us holy. “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God.” — 1 Corinthians 6:11 7. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” — Romans 8:26
There are many other ways the Holy Spirit works in our lives, and as we continue in our daily reading and prayer, let us ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in all things, deepening our understanding of His power and presence.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to dwell within us. We ask for Your Spirit to guide us daily, teaching us truth and helping us understand Your Word.
May Your Spirit empower us to live in holiness, to overcome our struggles, and to boldly share the message of Jesus with others. We invite the Holy Spirit to move in our hearts, interceding on our behalf when we don’t know how to pray, and helping us to grow closer to You.
Lead us into a deeper understanding of Your presence and power. We trust in Your Spirit to lead us, guide us, and sustain us through every moment.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
